On December 25, 2019, two police officers were arrested while transporting 20 kilograms of narcotics in a government vehicle in the Lerata area of Isiolo-Moyale.

The officers were on their way to take a prisoner to the Embu hospital for medical treatment when they were caught.

According to the Samburu County Police Commander, Juma Ogelo, the driver of the vehicle did not know that the officers were carrying narcotics.

Ogelo warned that any police officers found involved in narcotics trafficking would face the full force of the law.

'We will not tolerate such behavior and any officers found guilty will be prosecuted,' he said.

The two officers were detained at the Archers Post Police Station and are expected to appear in court on December 27, 2019.
