Published on December 27, 2019, two church leaders in Siaya have called for investigations into the death of a cleric and his two sons in a hit-and-run road accident two weeks ago.

Bishop Isaac Obure of Future Life Church and Bishop Silas Owiti of Christ Glory Centre Ministries alleged a cover-up in the accident that claimed the lives of Reverend Joseph Ajuoga, 56, an assistant bishop, and his two sons, Barrack Okeyo, 23, and Samuel Muli, 27.

The accident occurred along the Siaya-Nyadorera-Ruambwa road. Speaking to reporters in Siaya town, the two church leaders claimed that a section of the airbag with bloodstains had been cut off.

Bishop Owiti questioned why no one had been arrested despite the owner and driver of the car being well known in Siaya town.

"I preach at a local FM station and just outside the station, I find very many Ugandan vehicles with bhang and illicit brews for sale. These vehicles have caused a lot of accidents. The government must act to save our people," he added.

Siaya Police Sub-county Commander Justus Kucha denied claims of tampering with evidence, stating that the airbag had been preserved for investigation.

A manhunt for the suspects had been launched, with Kucha assuring that they would be arrested soon.
