On December 26, 2019, Liverpool secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, extending their lead in the Premier League table.

Roberto Firmino's double, James Milner's penalty, and Trent Alexander-Arnold's goal sealed the win for the Reds, who are now 13 points clear of their closest rivals with a match in hand.

The match saw Liverpool create numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both having clear chances on goal that were denied by Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

However, it was Firmino who broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, heading home a perfectly weighted cross from Alexander-Arnold to give Liverpool a 1-0 lead.

Despite Leicester's best efforts, Liverpool's dominance continued in the second half, with Firmino coming close to scoring again but failing to connect with a cross from Andy Robertson.

Milner then stepped up to convert a penalty in the 70th minute after Caglar Soyuncu handled the ball inside the penalty area, doubling Liverpool's lead.

Four minutes later, Alexander-Arnold provided the assist for Firmino's second goal, which gave the Reds a 3-0 advantage.

And in the 78th minute, Alexander-Arnold sealed the win with a low cross that Firmino controlled before scoring in the top corner.

Leicester City's temporary second-place position in the Premier League table was a result of Liverpool's convincing win, pending the outcome of Manchester City's fixture with Wolves.
