December 26, 2019, marked a disappointing day for Chelsea as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Michael Obafemi and Nathan Redmond were the heroes for the Saints, scoring in each half to secure a crucial victory.

Chelsea, who had been riding high after a win against Tottenham in the previous weekend, were unable to replicate their form against Ralph Hasenhuttl's men.

The away side's hard work paid off when Pierre Hojbjerg released a pass to Obafemi, who displaced Kurt Zouma and finished off the move with a left-foot shot to make it 1-0 in the 30th minute.

Despite Tammy Abraham's side net in the early exchanges of the second half, Southampton were able to hold off Chelsea's attacking threat.

Redmond sealed the win for the Saints in the 73rd minute, putting the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga to make it 2-0.

Chelsea's poor form at home continues, while Southampton move three points above relegation.
