Christmas Day was a joyous occasion for many families in Nairobi and Kirinyaga counties, with a total of 72 babies born in separate hospitals within the two regions.
According to reports, 62 of these child deliveries were recorded in Nairobi at various hospitals, while the remaining 10 births were split among three hospitals in Kirinyaga.
In Nairobi, Pumwani Maternity Hospital led with 25 deliveries, followed by Mbagathi Hospital with 21 child births and Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital with 16.
At Pumwani Maternity Hospital, Medical Superintendent Dr. Farhia Abdirahman Affi reported that one mother delivered triplets on December 25 at 1:20am, while another delivered twins at 6am.
The mother of the triplets, Emily Awuor from Kiambio near Eastleigh, expressed her gratitude to God for the historic moment, saying, "I thank God for this beautiful gift to me and my husband on this wonderful day."
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko congratulated the mothers and promised to offer them any support they may need before being discharged.
In Kirinyaga County, 7 births were recorded at the Kerugoya Referral Hospital and 3 others at the Sagana and Kimbimbi sub-county hospitals.
Kirinyaga County Director of Health George Karoki stated that 3 of the newborns are girls and that none of the 10 babies developed any complications during birth.
