On December 26, 2019, a devastating accident took place on the Kitale-Eldoret road, claiming the lives of four people.
A private seven-seater van, carrying sheep from West Pokot to Eldoret, collided with a minibus from Sabatia Safaris SACCO, headed to Kitale, at Nangili. The impact was severe, resulting in the deaths of two occupants from each vehicle.
According to eyewitnesses, the van was attempting to avoid a sheep that had wandered onto the road when it collided with the oncoming minibus.
Police responded promptly, transporting the injured to various hospitals in Kakamega County and the deceased to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
The accident left a trail of destruction, with the carcasses of the sheep scattered along the road.
