A Christmas party turned deadly in Bondo town after a man was stabbed to death outside a bar on December 25, 2019.
Velly Omondi, a 20-year-old student who was pursuing a Diploma course in Community Health and Development at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University, was stabbed multiple times in the stomach, chest, and head at around 11 am.
According to Anthony Wafula, the area police boss, the assailant is a well-known person who fled the scene after the incident.
Wafula stated that it was not immediately clear what caused the scuffle that led to the death, but those who witnessed the incident said there was a quarrel over a woman.
Police recovered a pocket knife at the scene of the murder and took the body to Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
Wafula added that police are still investigating what could have led to the scuffle, but they are highly suspecting it to be love-related, as the issue started on Tuesday night.
