Maendeleo Chap Chap Party Leader and Governor of Machakos County Dr. Alfred Mutua has taken on Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon. Johnstone Muthama, accusing them of not speaking for the Kamba community but for themselves and their own personal interests.
Speaking on his Twitter account on Thursday, December 26, 2019, Mutua stated that the Kamba community is tired of being used as supporters of others to Statehouse.
“I am ready and steadfast in my quest to presidency because I have worked closely with both Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta and in a political friendship with Raila Odinga and know I have their support and that of many development-minded Kenyans across the country to be the next President of Kenya,” he said.
Mutua also accused Kalonzo and Muthama of misleading the Kamba community into playing second fiddle in national political leadership, saying they clearly do not have the interest of the community at heart but are pursuing their own ends.
He noted that it was imperative that real grassroots-based Ukambani leaders meet to chart the way forward, adding that he would organize a REAL leaders meeting that would bring together professionals and leaders from every village or sub-locations of Kamba communities.
Early this week, Kalonzo had said that he would back President Kenyatta’s preferred 2022 presidential candidate, while Muthama had claimed that he was ready to mediate a working formula between Kalonzo and Deputy President William Ruto.
