On the night of Wednesday, a family of five perished in a fire that engulfed their house in Gaikuyu village, Mathira, Nyeri.
The tragic incident occurred at 2am, killing a man, his wife, their two sons, and a female relative who had visited them for Christmas.
Mathira East DCC Patrick Meso confirmed the incident, stating that police have launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
According to reports, the family's lives were lost in the fire, leaving behind a devastating scene.
