On December 23, a 16-year-old girl from Lurambi, Kakamega County, lost her life after being stung by a swarm of bees while collecting firewood in a nearby forest.
According to eyewitnesses, the girl was collecting firewood with her friends when the incident occurred.
"Marafiki za mwanangu walifanikiwa kutoroka na kuokoa maisha yao," said the girl's mother, Leonida Anamba, in an interview.
The girl's body was taken to the Kakamega Referral Hospital for preservation.
Locals have criticized the Lurambi Police Station for failing to take swift action to prevent the incident.
