December 25, 2019 - President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained the first family's long-standing tradition of spending Christmas in the coastal city of Mombasa.

State House announced that the President attended the Christmas Eve mass at the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Nyali, accompanied by his wife Margaret Kenyatta, his mother Ngina Kenyatta, and other family members.

During the mass, President Uhuru addressed the congregation, and he also took time to take selfies with ordinary Kenyans who had attended the service.

Earlier in the week, the President and the First Lady had hosted a Christmas banquet for State House staff children at State House in Nairobi, inviting kids from various children's homes in the city.

As part of the festivities, the children received assorted Christmas gifts, including electronic items such as TV sets, from the President and the First Lady.

President Uhuru's Christmas celebration in Mombasa is reminiscent of his 2018 trip to the city, where he took an SGR ride to join in the Christmas and New Year festivities.
