As Christmas approaches, Kenyans can expect a dry festive period, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department's latest seven-day weather forecast.
Issued between December 24 and 30, the forecast indicates a general reduction of rainfall over the central and eastern parts of the country, with the exception of southern rift valley areas, including Narok County, which may experience relatively heavy rainfall at the beginning and middle of the forecast period.
Acting Deputy Director of Kenya Meteorological Services Bernard Chanzu explained that rainfall decreased over several parts of the country in the past week, with both day-time and night-time temperatures increasing over most areas.
According to the forecast, several counties, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, will experience sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons throughout the period.
The Coastal strip, covering counties such as Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, will experience morning sunny intervals, except on Saturday, when showers are expected over a few places. In the afternoons, mainly sunny intervals are expected throughout the forecast period.
Other regions, including Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, and Taita Taveta, will experience sunny intervals in the morning, giving way to occasional afternoon showers over a few places.
