On December 25, 2019, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka reiterated his unwavering support for President Kenyatta, stating that he and the Kamba community would remain loyal to him even after 2022.
Musyoka made this declaration during a meeting with Kamba leaders at his home in Yatta, Machakos County, where he emphasized the importance of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in shaping the future of Ukambani politics.
"I have made a resolution that I and the Kamba community are not flip-flopping and where Uhuru will be even after 2022, we will be there. We are now engaging everybody as free gear," Musyoka said.
Notably, several elected and non-elected Kamba leaders attended the meeting, but Governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui), and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) were conspicuous by their absence.
Musyoka attributed the absence of the three governors to security concerns and a lack of apologies, which has led to speculation about their intentions to oust him as the Kamba political kingpin and lead the community in a different direction.
