Published on December 25, 2019, a Kisumu court heard that three women accused of repeatedly defiling a mentally challenged minor denied the charges.
The women, aged between 30 and 66, were each released on a Sh100,000 bond, awaiting a hearing that begins on March 16 next year.
However, one of the women will spend the night in police cells after failing to raise the required bond.
The women were accused of defiling the minor in exchange for menial jobs, such as cutting charcoal wood.
The boy's mother reported that they learned of the defilement in October and have since received death threats.
Local authorities have taken the boy into their care, ensuring his safety as the case proceeds.
