Naibu Inspekta Generali wa Polisi Edward Mbugua has warned female police officers against wearing exaggerated hairstyles that are distracting and unprofessional. The warning comes after Mbugua observed during his visits to various police stations across the country that some female officers were violating the dress code by wearing hairstyles that are too flashy.
According to Mbugua, the official police uniform deserves to be respected and honored. He noted that some of the officers who were found to be wearing such hairstyles were senior police officers who should be setting a good example for their juniors.
Mbugua stated that such hairstyles and excessive adornments will not be tolerated starting from January 2020. He urged all police commanders to ensure that this directive is strictly followed.
"Each one of us should understand that the official police uniform deserves to be respected and honored," Mbugua said. "Starting from Wednesday, January 2020, this flashy hairstyle will not be allowed at work. All police commanders across the country should ensure that this directive is strictly followed," he added.
