President Uhuru Kenyatta has been facing opposition from within his own party, Jubilee, with some leaders allegedly working to undermine his efforts to combat corruption.
Sabina Chege, a key figure in the Embrace faction of Jubilee, has spoken out against these leaders, calling for them to be disciplined and removed from the party.
Speaking in a video posted on Daily Nation on December 24, 2019, Chege said, "Wakicheza na sisi, tutawang'oa Jubilee ama tuwaachie," which translates to "If they play with us, we will expel them from Jubilee or leave them."
She emphasized the importance of respecting the President and supporting him in his fight against corruption, saying, "Watu kama hao wanapaswa kufungiwa nje ya masuala yanayohusiana na chama. Hatuwezi kuwa na sauti kinzani ambazo zinabishana na kiongozi wa chama," which means "People like them should be excluded from party matters. We cannot have voices that contradict the party leader."
Chege also suggested that those who create divisions within the party should be dealt with internally, saying, "Wale wanaozua malamishi baada ya viongozi wafisadi kukamatwa wanapaswa kufurushwa ndani ya chama hicho."
As a member of the Embrace faction, Chege has been a vocal supporter of the President's efforts to combat corruption and has called for greater discipline within the party.
