Herod's Conduct After Christ's Birth Mirrors Kenyan Society

As we reflect on the first Christmas, it is striking to see how the character of Herod mirrors the corruption and abuse of power in Kenyan society. Herod's actions, as described in the Bible, are a stark reminder of the ways in which those in power often prioritize their own interests over the needs of the poor.

Herod's corruption is evident in his attempts to consolidate power and eliminate any opposition, including the newborn king Jesus. He uses lies and manipulation to achieve his goals, and is willing to go to great lengths to maintain his grip on power.

Unfortunately, this behavior is all too familiar in Kenyan society. Our leaders often use their power to enrich themselves and their allies, while ignoring the needs of the poor and vulnerable. They may speak of their commitment to the poor, but their actions often tell a different story.

As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember the example of the wise men who came to worship Jesus, and the shepherds who were treated to a celestial symphony of angelic voices. Let us strive to break the chains of corruption and redeem our hearts, and to reject our
