The Ministry of Education has announced the new school opening dates for 2020, marking the beginning of a new academic year.
According to a statement sent to newsrooms on December 24, 2019, schools will reopen on January 6, 2020, after the Christmas break.
Students will have a midterm break from February 17 to 21, and the first term will close on April 10.
The second term will start on May 4 and will run until August 7, with a break between June 15 and June 19.
For the third term, studies will begin on August 31 and will end on October 30, with no mid-session break.
Primary school pupils will be in session for 38 weeks, while secondary school students will study for 41 weeks.
The KCPE and KCSE national examinations will take place in November, with KCPE scheduled to commence from November 2 to November 5, and KCSE exams slated for November 6 to November 30.
The circular also outlined term dates for teachers' training institutes in the country, with term one studies for TTI students beginning on January 7 and ending on April 10.
College students will be in session for a total of 39 weeks.
