On December 24, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Seattle, Washington, where an 85-year-old woman, identified as Beverly Jenne, shot and killed one of her hosts, Janet 'Jay' Oyuga, a Kenyan woman.
Oyuga's sister, Angela, was rushed to Harborview Hospital in Seattle after being shot in the chest. Fortunately, Angela survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment.
The two Kenyan sisters had recently purchased a new home in Seattle and, out of kindness, decided to host Jenne, who had reportedly lived in the same house for 40 years and had nowhere to go.
Neighbors described Jenne as a 'sweet' old woman, weighing around 97 pounds, and said they would help her down the stairs. However, on the night of the incident, Jenne allegedly shot Oyuga first and hid her body, waiting for Angela to return home from her late shift.
Neighbors reported hearing shouting followed by four to five gunshots at around 1 a.m. on the 2000 block of SW 306TH Lane. The motive behind the shooting is still unknown, and the Federal Way Police Department is working to determine whether Jenne is a suspect or a victim.
