As the country enters the festive season, Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has urged all police officers to be extra vigilant in ensuring the security of Kenyans and their property.
Published on December 24, 2019, Mutyambai's directive comes as a precautionary measure to prevent any potential security threats during the holiday period.
During his visit to Administration Police officers in Nairobi and Gilgil, Mutyambai assured the public of enhanced security, stating that adequate security personnel have been deployed across the country and key government installations.
He commended the police officers for their efforts in combating organized crime and other cases of criminality, saying they have positively answered the call of duty.
Additionally, Mutyambai announced that a number of police officers have already been promoted to higher ranks, with plans underway to elevate junior police officers as well.
His visit to Gilgil was also an opportunity to console six officers who were injured in the recent attack in Wajir, with Mutyambai assuring them that their efforts will not go unnoticed.
