Former Gor Mahia striker Yikpe Gnamien has made a surprise move to Tanzanian giants Yanga SC, joining the club just days after leaving the Kenyan champions without management consent.

According to Yanga SC's website, Gnamien will join the team in Mbeya on Tuesday, after passing a medical test.

Despite being part of the squad for their match against Mbeya City, Gnamien will not feature for Yanga in their upcoming match against Tanzania Prison FC on Thursday.

Gor Mahia had signed Gnamien from SC Gagnoa in July 2019, replacing former star striker Jacques Tuyisenge who joined Petro de Atletico of Angola the same month.

Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Aduda has criticized Yanga SC's actions, promising to take up the matter after the holidays and ensure justice prevails.

“We will pick up the issue and decide on the way forward but as at now I can’t comment much because they didn’t follow the law on the signing of Yikpe,” Aduda said.

Yikpe's move to Yanga SC is the third time in three years that a Gor Mahia player has joined a Tanzanian club, following in the footsteps of former striker Meddie Kagere and winger Francis Kahata who signed for Simba SC last season.
