On December 23, 2019, Ivorian striker Gislain Yikpe completed his move from Gor Mahia to Yanga Sports Club, according to a statement from the Tanzanian club.
Yikpe had joined Gor Mahia in July 2019, replacing Rwandan striker Jacques Tuyisenge who had moved to Petro de Atletico of Angola.
However, Yikpe's time at Gor Mahia was short-lived, and he left the club last week due to financial constraints.
Yanga Sports Club confirmed that Yikpe had passed a medical test and would join the team in Mbeya on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.
Despite being part of the squad for their pre-match training ahead of their league match against Mbeya City, Yikpe and four other new signings will not feature for their new club.
However, he might make his debut against Tanzania Prison FC on Thursday, December 26, 2019.
Yikpe's departure from Gor Mahia is the latest in a series of departures from the financially struggling Kenyan champions.
Former Gor Mahia striker Meddie Kagere and midfielder Francis Kahata have joined Tanzanian champions Simba SC in the last two seasons.
Ghanaian striker Francis Afriye has also left Gor Mahia for his homeland without the club's permission, and it is understood that he will not return to the Kenyan champions.
