On Tuesday morning, a devastating road accident occurred at Mwiwondwe bridge on the Ekero-Buyangu road, claiming the lives of five people, including a man and his wife.
The accident happened when the vehicle they were travelling in, a Toyota Wish, rolled on the bridge, seriously injuring five others, including children.
The group of ten was cramped in the vehicle on their way to Busia for the festive season.
Area police boss Peter Kattam warned motorists to observe traffic rules during this period, speaking to Citizen Digital.
The bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to the St. Marys Mumias Hospital mortuary.
