On December 24, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a significant arrest at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in connection with the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

Jackson Njau Kinyanjui, a former Director of Resource Mobilization at the Treasury, was apprehended upon his arrival from the USA.

According to the DCI, immigration officers at the airport initially stopped Kinyanjui before handing him over to the detectives for further questioning.

During interrogation, Kinyanjui allegedly claimed that he had been cleared to travel after securing his passport from the Milimani Law Courts following a previous arrest.

As an economist, Kinyanjui is accused of benefiting from the Sh21 billion allegedly embezzled in the dubious Arror and Kimwarer dams deals.

The suspect remains in police custody as further investigations continue.
