Deputy President William Ruto has given the public a glimpse into his stance on the Bridging Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, a contentious issue in Kenya's governance landscape.

Speaking on Monday, December 23, 2019, in Luanda, Vihiga County, during the Mumboha Hustlers Cup, DP Ruto emphasized that he would support the report if it is passed by the people, not a select few in a boardroom.

“Today, I’m not opposing anything, I support the contents of the BBI report provided its passed by the people and not a handful of people in a boardroom,” he said in part.

DP Ruto also expressed his willingness to accept any system of governance that the public decides upon, whether it's a parliamentary system, presidential system, or any other name it may be called.

“If they want parliamentary system, presidential system or whatever name it will be called, so long as the people decide, it is fine,” he added.

His stance on the BBI report comes after he previously called for its fast-tracking, citing its potential to allow Kenyans to focus on developing the country.
