On December 24, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Seattle, United States, where a Kenyan woman, Janet 'Jay' Oyuga, was fatally shot by an elderly woman she was hosting.

According to reports, the assailant, who had been living with the sisters after losing her home, hid Janet's body and waited for her sister, Angela, to return home from her late shift.

Angela, unaware of the situation, was shot in the back as she walked up the stairs, but miraculously survived and is currently recuperating at Harborview Hospital in Seattle.

The two sisters had recently purchased the home on auction and were hosting the elderly woman out of kindness and respect for the previous homeowner.

As news of the tragic incident spread, the Kenyan community in the US has come together to help the family of the deceased plan her funeral.

"We as a community full of love should assist this family so that we can accord Jay a warm send off," a post from the Kenyan community in the US reads.
