On Monday, 23 December, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka hosted a meeting at his Yatta farm, but it was a somber affair as Ukambani governors failed to attend.
According to reports, all four governors from the region - Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), and Kalembe Ndile (Kwale) - declined Kalonzo's personal invitation.
Governor Mutua cited safety concerns as the reason for his absence, stating that his life was in danger.
Despite the low turnout, Kalonzo remained resolute in his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta, declaring that he would drum up support for the president's preferred political formation in 2022.
'I have made a resolution that I and the Kamba community are not flip-flopping and where Uhuru will be even after 2022, we will be there,' Kalonzo stated.
He also expressed confidence in Raila Odinga's continued support for Uhuru, saying, 'I have not spoken to Raila of late but I know his support for Uhuru till he finishes his term has not changed.'
