On December 24, 2019, a warrant of arrest was issued against the owners of Solai Group of Companies after they failed to appear in court for forgery charges.

The case involves Solai Group's CEO, Mansukhlal Shantilal Patel, and Perry Mansuklal, who are accused of forging a title deed belonging to a parcel of land in Nairobi worth two billion shillings.

They denied four counts of forgery levelled against them and were released on a one million shillings cash bail.

Senior Principal Magistrate Angelo Kithinji issued the orders after the businessman, who is the proprietor of the Solai dam that killed 40 people in 2018, failed to take plea.

He is charged alongside another Solai Company Director and two other suspects for forging a title deed of a parcel of land in Kiang'ombe Embakassi, Nairobi.

While appearing on behalf of the businessman, Counsel Peter Arusei said they are yet to receive a formal sermon in regards to the land case.

The DCI insists that investigations into the matter stalled since 2012 partly due to non-availability of the directors of the said land to record statements and provide copies of ownership and documents in their possession.

The hearing of the case is scheduled for March 30, 2020.
