On December 24, 2019, a Nairobi court issued a warrant for the arrest of two directors of the Solai dam, which catastrophically failed in May 2018, claiming the lives of over 40 people.
The two directors, Mansukhulal Shantilal Patel and Mansukh Kasangra, are accused of conspiracy, forgery, and forceful detention of property, in relation to a 10-acre parcel of land valued at Sh2 billion.
The land in question is owned by Tafflus Manufacturers Company, which is associated with the late Abubakhar Madhubuti, a former Lamu East MP.
The alleged offence is said to have taken place between July 1, 1985, and July 13, 1994.
Patel and Kasangra also face a separate charge of being in possession of the land, valued at Sh2 billion.
