Divided Cabinet: Uhuru's Ministers at Odds Over Loyalty ¶
President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet is in disarray, with some ministers refusing to attend meetings and others openly questioning the president's leadership.
According to sources within the cabinet, the rift is largely due to the 2022 presidential election, which saw some ministers fail to remain focused on their duties.
"There are ministers who refuse to attend meetings or engage in any meaningful discussions," said a cabinet minister, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The tensions within the cabinet are also fueled by the perceived loyalty of some ministers to Deputy President William Ruto, who is seen as a potential successor to Uhuru.
"Some ministers are more loyal to Ruto than to the president," said a source within the cabinet. "They see Ruto as the future leader and are more interested in advancing his interests than in serving the president."
Others have accused some ministers of being arrogant and dismissive of Uhuru's authority.
"Some ministers have become too big for their boots," said a cabinet minister. "They think they are above the law and can do whatever they want without facing any consequences."
Uhuru has been urged to take action to resolve the crisis within his cabinet.
"The president needs to take a firm stance and remind his ministers of their duties and responsibilities," said a source within the cabinet.
