Documents obtained by Nyakundi Report reveal that Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu paid his wife and daughters nearly KSh.20 million for tenders awarded shortly after he took office in 2017.
According to the documents, a total of KSh.18,871,398 was wired to bank accounts belonging to five companies directly owned by Governor Waititu's wife, Susan Wangari Ndung'u, and their two daughters; Monica Njeri Ndung'u and Diana Wangoko Ndung'u.
The companies, Suwanga Ltd, Modiba Management Services Ltd, Beedee Management Services Ltd, Connex Logistics, and another company, were awarded contracts worth millions of shillings for various services, including the construction of a public toilet, supply of tyres, and hiring of an excavator.
Records by the Registrar of Companies indicate that Waititu's wife and daughters are the sole shareholders of the companies.
One of the companies, Suwanga Ltd, was registered on June 9th, 2017, just two months after Governor Waititu took office. The company was awarded a contract to construct a public toilet at the Kiambu matatu stage and was paid KSh.3,999,835 on January 30th, 2018.
Another company, Modiba Management Services Ltd, was registered on November 1st, 2017, and was awarded a contract to supply 30 tyres at a cost of KSh.874,000, which was paid a week later, on December 6th, 2017.
The new revelations could compound Governor Waititu's woes. Waititu, who was barred from accessing his office after he was charged with corruption over the loss of county funds totaling KSh.588 million, was last week impeached by Kiambu County Assembly on the grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
