December 23, 2019, was a day of great excitement for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they received the Talino Forensic Workstation, a mid-level desktop processor system featuring superior processing power and capabilities.

The DCI had been nominated for the award alongside US police departments Henry County Police Department, Elkton Police Department, Washington Police Department, and Philadelphia Police Department. They were the only nominees outside the United States of America.

Despite coming second in the tight race, the DCI's efforts were not in vain. The online campaign that saw Kenyans rally behind them to vote for the workstation paid off, and the organizers, Sumuri Forensics, decided to gift the workstation to the DCI.

The Talino Forensic Workstation is a valuable asset for the DCI, and it will be essential in their forensic work. The DCI has expressed their gratitude to Sumuri Forensics for the award and has congratulated Kenyans for their efforts in voting for them.

However, not everyone was pleased with the decision. Some critics have pointed out that the workstation was given away for free, courtesy of the online campaign, and that the government could have paid for it instead. They have questioned the value of the workstation and whether it was worth the effort.
