On December 24, 2019, detectives in Kirinyaga County launched an investigation into the seizure of over 700,000 rolling papers used for marijuana from a shop belonging to a Member of County Assembly (MCA).

The rolling papers, known as rizla, were found in two boxes inside the shop of Kabare Ward MCA Chomba Nyaga in Kutus town. According to area OCPD Anthony Mbogo, the papers are used by bhang peddlers.

Police officers are reportedly looking for one suspect as they try to establish the connection between him and MCA Chomba.

When questioned by police, MCA Chomba disowned the rolling papers, claiming they were left at his shop by a customer. He stated that a customer had left the cartons with his worker, but after a long time, he informed the police officers.
