Edinson Cavani, the Uruguayan striker for Paris Saint-Germain, is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid in a transfer deal that could be completed in the coming days, according to reports.
The transfer rumors have been circulating for months, with Cavani's frustration at being left on the bench being cited as a key factor in his potential move.
"The transfer could take place in the coming days. In principle, the agreement would be for two-and-a-half seasons, although it is still up for discussion," a Spanish sports daily, Marca, reported.
However, securing PSG's agreement for an immediate transfer of their top goal scorer, Cavani, would likely involve significant negotiations, particularly given the winter transfer window opening on January 1.
French radio station RMCsport also confirmed that Cavani had agreed to join Atletico Madrid, with PSG reportedly open to the idea of letting him go this winter.
Despite not being a regular starter for PSG, Cavani's services may be needed from February onwards, as the Parisians enter a crucial phase in Ligue 1, the Champions League, and domestic Cup action.
