Published on December 23, 2019, Glovo has released a statement to address concerns raised by a Twitter user, David Mugo, who claimed the company's courier was on its way to deliver alcohol to his 16-year-old teenagers without verifying their age.

According to Kenyan law, children under the age of 18 are not allowed to purchase or consume alcohol. Glovo's statement emphasizes that the company does not tolerate the distribution of age-restricted items to minors.

The brand's terms and conditions require consumers to confirm they meet the minimum age requirement for purchasing age-restricted items. Additionally, Glovo's couriers are instructed to request a valid identity card from consumers upon delivery, and if they suspect the consumer is underage, they reserve the right to refuse the order.

However, David Mugo disputed Glovo's claims, stating that the courier was ready to process the transaction without asking for proof of age. He also accused Glovo of not verifying the ages of consumers and prioritizing sales over age restrictions.

Other Twitter users joined the conversation, suggesting that Glovo's age verification process is inadequate and that the company should implement stricter controls to prevent underage sales.
