On December 23, 2019, Google released an update for its Pixel 4 smartphones, bringing several new features and improvements.

The update involves holding the rollout of major new features in its first-party apps until it's time for the next feature drop, which was first introduced with the feature drop that brought features like automatic Call Screen, a new Portrait Mode filter, and an auto-framing feature in Google Duo.

Additionally, the update comprises three new features for the Pixel 4: dual-frequency GNSS support, an improved Face Unlock, and support for T-Mobile's network via the built-in eSIM.

According to Google, users will also get 'amazingly fast accuracy in Google Maps with improved on-device computing for much better location quality.' The update also includes regular automatic updates with fixes and improvements.

With the latest update, T-Mobile USA users can access the feature since it supports dual SIM, dual standby, allowing users to use both the physical nanoSIM and the eSIM on different networks while still being able to receive calls and texts.

Call Screen, which was first introduced in the US, now helps users automatically screen unknown callers and filter out detected robocalls before the phone ever rings.

For non-robocallers, the phone rings a few moments later with helpful context about who is calling and why. Call Screen works on the user's device and does not use Wi-Fi or data, making the screening fast and the contents private.

Another feature, dual-frequency GNSS, allows for better location tracking by enabling the phone to track more than one signal from a satellite using two different frequencies.
