On Sunday, December 22, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a wanted suspect at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in connection with the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
The suspect, Jackson Njau Kinyanjui, a former Director of Resource Mobilization at the Treasury, was stopped by immigration officers at the airport and handed over to the DCI detectives.
According to the DCI, Kinyanjui was arrested upon his arrival from the USA, where he had traveled after being previously arrested.
During interrogation, Kinyanjui allegedly claimed that he had been cleared to travel after securing his passport from the Milimani Law Courts.
As part of the ongoing investigations, Kinyanjui, an economist, is accused of benefiting from the Sh21 billion allegedly embezzled in the dubious Arror and Kimwarer dams deals.
The suspect remains in police custody as further investigations continue.
