Published on December 23, 2019, Leicester City's top-of-the-table clash with Premier League leaders Liverpool on Thursday will be a true test of their title ambitions, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester, second in the table, lost 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield in October, but Rodgers is hopeful that the home crowd will spur them on against a side that remains unbeaten in the league.

"It's another difficult game for us, they're one of the most consistent teams at this level for a long period of time, but we're at home and we want to bring our true game," Rodgers told reporters.

With a 2-1 defeat by third-placed Manchester City on Saturday reducing the gap between the two teams to one point, Rodgers said he was not thinking about the title race, citing Liverpool's significant lead.

"There's a gap that's already difficult to overcome looking at how many points Liverpool have dropped," Rodgers added.

Leicester City will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Manchester City and Rodgers is hopeful that the King Power Stadium will provide the necessary intensity to help them secure a win against Liverpool.
