Patrick Mbataru's sock drawer has become a battleground. He's lost count of the number of times he's worn a pair, only to find that one of the socks has vanished into thin air.

At first, he blamed his wife, Madam Boss, for the disappearance. But after some investigation, he discovered that she had better ways of punishing him.

Next, he suspected the rats that had formed a football club in the ceiling. They were guilty of everything wrong in the store and wardrobe, including poking holes in his pants. But, as it turned out, they had nothing to do with the missing socks.

Undeterred, Mbataru bought a rat trap, one of those slippers that have passed through a mincing machine. The wise fellows use super glue to stick some rats to the straps. But, as his friend Huang Liu from Shanghai told him, rats are intelligent and innovative creatures.

So, the trap works by scaring the rats and other in-house livestock out of the house. But, the socks still keep disappearing.

Maybe, Mbataru suspects, socks do not like being forced into marriage and quickly organize a divorce or murder. Or perhaps they're just tired of each other and decide to go their separate ways.

Whatever the reason, Mbataru is determined to find out where the other sock disappears to. He's currently on the lookout for his left foot sock, which has stripes and a hole at the toe.
