Motorists in Nairobi are set to face a four-day disruption as Mbagathi Road is closed for the demolition of a footbridge. The closure, which will last from Friday to Tuesday, has been announced by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
According to KeNHA, motorists coming from Lang'ata Road through Mbagathi Way are advised to divert at Mbagathi Road, join Mtongwe Road, and proceed up to Mbaruk Road before joining Muchai Drive, which links with Ngong Road at Coptic Hospital.
Those coming from Ngong Town via Ngong Road are directed to proceed up to City Mortuary Roundabout, exit at the roundabout to join Ngong Road, and then drive on up to Muchai Drive diversion.
Motorists using Valley Road and those from Kenyatta National Hospital are advised to use the same navigation.
The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has stated that the road will be closed for 12 hours a day, from 6am to 6pm, during the four-day period.
According to KURA, the closure is necessary to allow the contractor on site to demolish the Mbagathi Way footbridge and pave the way for the construction of a modern footbridge.
