On Sunday, Gor Mahia reclaimed the top spot in the Kenyan Premier League table after thrashing relegation-threatened Kisumu All Stars 3-0 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
At the Mumias Sports Complex, AFC Leopards also had a bright afternoon, tearing helpless Mathare United by a similar 3-0 win.
Gor Mahia's win took their points tally to 28, dislodging Tusker who have a similar number of points. However, K'Ogalo have three games in hand compared to the Robert Matano-coached Tusker who have played 14 matches.
Gor Mahia's goals were scored by pint-sized attacker Nicholas Kipkirui in the 37th minute, followed by Kenneth Muguna and Bernard Ondiek in the 60th and 64th minutes respectively.
Leopards, on the other hand, went one slot up on the table from position eight to seven, displacing Sofapaka who have 21 points, one less than Ingwe.
Leopards' big win was thanks to Vincent Oburu, who bagged a brace, and red-hot forward John Mark Makwatta, who also shook the net to seal the win.
On the other hand, in Kisumu, All Stars dominated the game in the first 15 minutes, but Gor Mahia's goalie Boniface Oluoch cleared a superb strike by Wesley Kemboi in the fifth minute.
Leopards' coach Henry Omino blamed his strikers for wasting clear chances, especially in the first half.
”We were to win this match, we really played well in the first half and you can see we had more than five clear chances but again my strikers wasted them,” Omino said.
He added that his side still needs to sign three players in January's transfer window, including a keeper and two midfielders.
