Ulinzi Stars extended their unbeaten run in the Kenyan Premier League to 12 games with a convincing 4-0 win over Zoo FC at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Sunday.
The soldiers, led by coach Benjamin Nyangweso, have lost just one match since the term began and have bounced back to record an impressive unbeaten record.
At Afraha, first-half goals from Enosh Ochieng, John Njuguna, and a brace from Oscar Wamalwa saw Ulinzi jump to position five on the table with 25 points, three behind table-topping Gor Mahia who beat Kisumu All Stars 3-0 in Kisumu.
Ulinzi's victory was sealed in the first half, with Enosh Ochieng rising higher to head home Daniel Waweru's cross in the 4th minute. Three minutes later, John Njuguna collected a loose ball on the left wing and his left-footed shot was too powerful for keeper Vincent Misikhu to handle.
Striker Oscar Wamalwa, who had returned from national duty with Harambee Stars at the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, where he bagged the Golden Boot award, could not stop scoring after bagging a brace; a goal in either half, the first a header in the 37th minute and a tap in in the 54th minute, to sink hopeless Zoo.
Despite a better performance in the second half, Zoo failed to create an open chance and headed to the tunnel trailing 3-0. The soldiers looked to dominate large parts of the proceedings, and their win lifted them up to fifth on goal difference as they share the same number of points with KCB.
