On December 22, 2019, a significant milestone was achieved in Kakamega County, as over 300 low-income families were enrolled into the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) through a partnership between Hamptons Hospital and other stakeholders.
The initiative, led by Elisa De Panicis, an Italian superstar, aimed to provide holiday gifts to the families, who received their NHIF cards at Ebubari Apostolic Church and Bulanda Primary School in Marama Central Ward.
The group plans to sponsor up to 5,000 low-income families by the end of 2020, with the goal of providing free universal healthcare access to the residents.
Hamptons Hospital, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2020, will treat 12,000 patients per day and provide employment for more than 9,000 workers.
The free NHIF sponsorship enrollment exercise will shift to Lunza Sub Location of Marama West Ward in Butere Sub County on December 27th, 2019, where hundreds of low-income households will be enrolled at Hamptons Hospital grounds during a festive season celebration.
