On December 22, 2019, police in Kirinyaga County launched an investigation into the discovery of two cartons of paper used for rolling bhang at the premises of Kabare Ward MCA Chomba Nyaga in Kutus town.

According to Area OCPD Anthony Mbogo, the two cartons contained over 700,000 rolling papers known as rizla, which are commonly used by bhang peddlers.

MBogo stated that the MCA had recorded a statement at the Kutus patrol base, claiming that the rolling papers had been left at his shop by a customer.

However, the MCA explained in his statement that a customer had left the cartons at his shop, and after a long time, he informed the police officers.

Police are now in pursuit of one suspect and working to establish the connection between the suspect and the MCA.
