On December 22, 2019, Equity Hawks secured their title in the Kenya Basketball Federation women's Premier League, defeating KPA 61-51 in game five at the Nyayo National Stadium indoor gymnasium.
Former league champions KPA, led by Hildah Indasi, Natalie Akinyi, Taudencia Peters, and Seline Okumu, came into the match determined to reclaim the title they lost to Equity Hawks the previous year.
However, numerous turnovers by KPA allowed Equity Hawks to take the lead, with Samba Mjomba, Annrose Mandela, Belinda Akoth, and Mellisa Akinyi leading the bankers to a 16-4 win in the second quarter.
Despite a strong fight in the third quarter, which they won 17-15, KPA's efforts were ultimately in vain as they lost the fourth quarter 21-16, sealing their defeat.
Annrose Mandela of Equity Hawks was voted the most valuable player, while KPA's Hilda Indasi was named the top scorer.
