Kenya is grappling with a severe cholera outbreak that has affected 12 counties, with at least 147 people hospitalized and 37 deaths reported.

According to reports, the outbreak is active in 4 counties: Nairobi, Garissa, Mandera, and Turkana, with the majority of cases in Nairobi's Embakasi East, Embakasi West, Starehe, Ruaraka, Kibera, Lang'ata, Kasarani, Dagoretti North, Westlands, and Kamukunji sub-counties.

Garissa County has reported cases from Hagadera and IFO refugee camps, while Turkana County has seen cases from Kakuma, Kalobeyei, and Lopur in Turkana West sub-county, which also hosts refugees.

As of 2019, a total of 4961 cases have been reported, with 253 confirmed, and 147 active cases.
