Heavy rainfall in Kenya has caused significant disruptions to national parks and reserves, with many roads and airstrips rendered impassable. However, Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has issued a notice stating that all hotels and lodges located in national parks and reserves are now accessible by road.

This comes after KWS previously announced that some roads in national parks had been affected by the heavy rains, making them impassable. However, the situation has improved, and all other airstrips and roads that were affected by the heavy rains are now fully operational and passable.

Despite the improvement, the Amboseli airstrip will remain closed until further notice due to safety considerations. According to KWS director general Ngugi Gecaga, the water levels at the airstrip have subsided, and it is expected to be operational in the next few days, provided the current weather conditions prevail.

Kenya has experienced heavy rainfall in the past three months, resulting in over 132 deaths and thousands of people displaced. The Meteorological Department of Kenya has predicted that the downpour will persist until the end of the month, with intermittent episodes of heavy and light rainfall in the next three weeks.
