Deadly Poison and a Glimpse into the Afterlife ¶
On April 27, 2015, Ivan Gebrev, a Bulgarian businessman, first noticed something was amiss when his right eye turned a deep red, as if sand had been poured into his pupil.
Over the next few days, Gebrev's condition worsened, and he was rushed to a military hospital after experiencing violent vomiting and hallucinations.
As he lay in the hospital, Gebrev claimed to have visited the afterlife three times, with doctors warning that they had almost lost him.
His son, Hristo, who was being groomed to take over the family business, Emco, was also hospitalized, fueling Gebrev's fears that his assassination was a calculated move to destroy the company.
“When they get rid of me and my son, the company will be destroyed,” Gebrev said in an interview. “Who would sign contracts? Who has the rights?”
