Published on December 22, 2019, a remarkable story of academic excellence emerged from the rural areas of Nyandarua County. Kisima Mixed Secondary School, an extra-county school located in Ol Jooro Orok, near Nyahururu town, achieved outstanding results in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
The school's mean score of 10.0588 was a significant improvement from the previous year's 9.5, with 34 candidates securing university placements. Two students, Janet Wairimu Kahora and Pinky Esther Ong'ayo, scored A (plain) with 82 and 81 points, respectively, while 11 other learners scored A-(minus).
Additionally, 12 candidates from the school attained grade B+ (plus), six scored B (plain), two had B- (minus), and one candidate achieved a C+ (plus). The school's principal, Daniel Amunga, attributed the good performance to discipline and hard work.
'At Kisima, discipline is our first chore. That is why we have been managing to post good results every year,' Amunga said. He also highlighted the school's commitment to assisting students from poor families, stating, 'We are here to assist them and brighten their lives. These are all students from poor families and we are proud that they now have achieved their goals.'
