The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been in the running for the prestigious Sumuri Talino Forensic Workstation award, a mid-level desktop processor system featuring superior processing power and capabilities.
According to the DCI, the award would have seen the agency receive the Talino Forensics Workstation & Access Data FTK Software License.
However, the DCI has lost the battle to the US-based Henry County Police Department, emerging second in the online tally despite taking an early lead.
"The final online tally declares Henry County Police Department as the winners with DCI closing in second in a very tight race that saw us leading the tally the whole of yesterday," the DCI tweeted.
Despite the loss, the DCI expressed gratitude to Kenyans who voted for the agency, saying, "Directorate of Criminal Investigations and National Police Service in its entirety wishes to thank you most humbly for heeding to our call and voting for us overwhelmingly."
The DCI had been appealing to Kenyans on social media to vote for the agency, given it was the only agency nominated for the award outside the United States.
